Ivan Q. Zinn, Founding Partner & Chief Investment Officer

Founding Partner & Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Zinn founded Atalaya Capital Management in 2006 and serves as its Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. Atalaya Capital Management is a special opportunities and private credit manager that manages capital on behalf of a wide range of investors including endowments, foundations and public and corporate pension plans. Mr. Zinn was previously responsible for HBK’s strategy to originate and invest in corporate and real estate loans and other special situation investments. Prior to HBK, Mr. Zinn established Highbridge/Zwirn Capital Management’s European investment effort and concentrated on media and telecom special situation investments in the U.S. Mr. Zinn was also a private equity investment professional at Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. and began his career as an investment banking analyst in the Los Angeles office of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. Mr. Zinn received a BA, magna cum laude, in Physics and Economics from Claremont McKenna College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and was an NCAA All-American tennis player.

David P. Aidi, Partner

Mr. Aidi has extensive experience in alternative credit investing and has deep experience executing specialty finance and corporate transactions. Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Aidi was the Portfolio Manager in charge of the Direct Lending Group and a member of the Investment Committee at Magnetar Capital, LLC. Prior to Magnetar, Mr. Aidi was a corporate analyst at Highbridge/Zwirn, focused on private lending and special opportunities investments, where he worked closely with Mr. Zinn. Mr. Aidi began his career at Merrill Lynch, holding positions within the High Yield Capital Markets Group as well as the Telecommunications, Media and Technology Investment Banking Group. Mr. Aidi earned a BS in Business Administration, summa cum laude, from the Stern School of Business at New York University and is a current member of the NYU Young Alumni Leadership Council.

Raymond S. Chan, Partner

Mr. Chan has extensive experience in originating and investing in a range of financial assets, focused on specialty finance transactions. Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Chan was a partner and co-founder of TTM Capital, LLC, an investment firm focused on acquiring and lending against portfolios of financial and other assets. Prior to TTM, Mr. Chan was a Managing Director and co-head of the Assets Group at D.B. Zwirn & Co. Previously, Mr. Chan was a member of the Principal Transaction and Principal Finance teams at Lehman Brothers, and worked on numerous securitizations across multiple asset classes at Salomon Brothers. Mr. Chan began his career as a consultant at Price Waterhouse, followed by an internal consulting and operations roles at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Chan received a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University.

Robert M. Flowers, Partner

Mr. Flowers brings over 20 years of investment experience as a team leader, portfolio manager, trader, originator and analyst. He has deep experience in structured finance and related sectors supported by a strong background in credit and leverage finance. Mr. Flowers was a co-founder and Partner of TTM Capital, LLC, an investment firm focused on acquiring and lending against portfolios of financial and other assets. Prior to TTM, Mr. Flowers was a Managing Director and co-head of the Assets Group at D.B. Zwirn & Co. Previously, Mr. Flowers was an Executive Vice President at PPM America, Inc. where he founded and led the Structured Finance and CDO Management Group. Mr. Flowers began his career in credit and leverage finance investing at Alliance Capital Management and Connecticut National Bank. Mr. Flowers earned a BA in Business Economics at University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA in Finance at Columbia University.

Drew C. Phillips, Partner & Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Phillips has broad management and financial services experience working with institutional investors and global financial institutions. Mr. Phillips joined Atalaya from Tiger Bay Advisors, a boutique asset management consultancy he co-founded, focused on driving operational efficiency, agility and scale. Prior to Tiger Bay, Mr. Phillips has served as the Manager of the Fund and Client Legal Group at Bridgewater Associates as well as the Assistant General Counsel & Director of New Products at The Rohatyn Group. Mr. Phillips was also a Vice-President for the Americas at The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and an Associate at the law firm Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. Mr. Phillips earned his BA degree in Economics from Columbia University, his JD from Georgetown University Law Center and is the President of the board of directors of the Children’s Cancer and Blood Foundation, the largest and oldest charitable organization in the United States dedicated to the care of children suffering from blood diseases and cancers.

Joshua D. Ufberg, Partner

Mr. Ufberg has broad experience sourcing and investing in corporate and real estate alternative credit, with a focus on the opportunistic purchase of loans and assets across the private corporate and real estate market. Mr. Ufberg has also played an integral role in developing servicing partnerships and executing complex primary and secondary transactions across asset class and geography. Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Ufberg was a Vice President at Goldman Sachs, where he was a member of the Americas Special Situations Group, a multi asset class business which invested Goldman’s capital in both the public markets and private transactions in distressed and special situations. Prior to joining Goldman, Mr. Ufberg worked at Bernstein Investment Research and Management. Mr. Ufberg earned his BA from Pennsylvania State University and his JD from Villanova University. Mr. Ufberg has served on the boards of Urban Arts Partnership and the Jewish Community Project, and currently serves on the board of Natan.

Jerry V. Cammarata, Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Cammarata was a Vice President with Torchlight Investors (formerly ING Clarion Capital), a $3 billion investment manager focused on mortgage backed securities, commercial real estate lending, and other structured products. At Torchlight, Mr. Cammarata was responsible for the accounting, operations, and compliance functions where he built out the internal controls and accounting infrastructure for various private equity and hedge funds, as well as ’40 Act registered funds. Mr. Cammarata also served as the Chief Compliance Officer reporting to the board of directors of registered investment companies. Mr. Cammarata began his career as an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP where he worked on audit engagements for hedge funds, private equity, and mutual funds of various strategies and sizes. Mr. Cammarata received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairfield University and a Master of Business Administration in Accounting, Finance, and Taxation from Fairfield University. Mr. Cammarata is a New York State Certified Public Accountant.

William C. Getz, Managing Director

Mr. Getz has extensive experience in leveraged finance, LBOs and private equity-related transactions. Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Getz was a General Manager (Senior Managing Director) at Mizuho Bank (Mizuho Securities USA) where he created and ran the leveraged finance and financial sponsors businesses for Mizuho in the Americas. While at Mizuho, Mr. Getz also oversaw a $4 billion portfolio consisting primarily of loans related to LBOs and was on several of the Bank’s senior management committees in the Americas. Prior to Mizuho, Mr. Getz was a Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets and Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. Earlier in his career, Mr. Getz co-founded the Financial Sponsors Group at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Getz holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Delaware and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of Chicago. Mr. Getz is also a CPA (inactive status).

Young K. Kwon, Managing Director

Mr. Kwon has extensive real estate experience in debt, equity and various CRE structured products. Prior to Atalaya, Mr. Kwon spent seven years at Apollo Global Management as Managing Director and Portfolio Manager, with a focus on a variety of credit-related assets, including CMBS trading and investing and consumer ABS. Prior to Apollo, Mr. Kwon was Portfolio Manager at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he managed the $6.5 billion Mortgage Private Placement Fund and was a member of the Investment Committee in the U.S. Fixed Income Group. Mr. Kwon has also worked for Nippon Life Insurance of Japan, Morgan Stanley, and began his career at Battle Fowler, LLP. Mr. Kwon holds a BA in political science and economics from the State University of New York Stony Brook, where he was an intercollegiate tennis and squash player. Mr. Kwon earned a JD from the Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.

Rana R. Mitra, Managing Director

Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Mitra was a Vice President at Del Mar Asset Management, L.P. a multi-strategy hedge fund. At Del Mar, Mr. Mitra primarily focused on private credit and distressed investments and also reviewed relative value investments across bank debt, bonds, CDS and equities. Prior to Del Mar, Mr. Mitra was a Director at Marc Bell Capital Partners, LLC a special situations investment firm involved in private equity, credit and public equity investments. At Marc Bell, Mr. Mitra was responsible for sourcing, screening, financial analysis, transaction execution and the management of portfolio companies. Mr. Mitra began his career in the Investment Banking Division of Bear, Stearns & Co. Inc. Mr. Mitra received his BS in Economics, summa cum laude and a member of Beta Alpha Psi, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Murphy was a co-founder and Partner of TTM Capital, LLC, an investment firm focused on acquiring and lending against portfolios of financial and other assets, where he was responsible for Asset Management and Operations. Prior to TTM, Mr. Murphy worked at D.B. Zwirn & Co. as a Vice President with oversight of all asset management functions for the Assets group where he managed credit reporting and credit administration and led the workout management for “problem” assets for the Assets Group. Prior to D. B. Zwirn, Mr. Murphy was at Hudson Castle Group (formerly IBEX Capital Markets), an independent structured finance advisory company specializing in the management of asset-backed lending vehicles where he was responsible for all aspects of conduit operations, treasury and credit administration for five asset backed commercial paper conduits with commitments in excess of $8 billion. Mr. Murphy holds a MBS (Graduate School of Business) and a B.Comm in Accounting both from University College Dublin, Ireland and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Sachin U. Sarnobat, Managing Director

Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Sarnobat worked with Prospect Capital Management, a multi-billion dollar credit and private equity fund, where he served on the investment committee, headed the illiquid public debt strategy, and structured private investments in esoteric assets. Prior to Prospect Capital Management, Mr. Sarnobat also worked in the investment banking practices of Citigroup and Merrill Lynch, where he originated and executed mergers, acquisitions, debt and equity transactions for a variety of private equity and corporate clients. Mr. Sarnobat began his career at a technology start-up that provided advanced analytics to the consumer credit risk industry and was awarded a U.S. patent related to data mining. Mr. Sarnobat earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai and his MBA with honors from Columbia University Business School. Mr. Sarnobat also earned his Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, based on his research on Chaos Theory at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Prior to joining Atalaya, Mr. Spiro worked with Candlewood Investment Group, LP, a multi-billion dollar credit focused alternative asset manager where he focused on highly structured, esoteric transactions spanning distressed and special situation opportunities. Prior to Candlewood, Mr. Spiro was an executive director at JPMorgan Alternative Asset Management where he developed and oversaw the group’s program of direct and co-investments made alongside its hedge fund relationships. Mr. Spiro earned a BS in Computational Finance with University Honors from Carnegie Mellon University and is a CFA charterholder.

Mr. Nadborny serves as Atalaya's General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer. Previously, Mr. Nadborny was General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at C12 Capital Management, a multi-strategy hedge fund, as well as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of DHM Mortgage Servicing, a C12 subsidiary focused on the residential mortgage sector. Prior to C12, Mr. Nadborny served as Real Estate Counsel – Americas at Babcock & Brown, a global merchant bank, overseeing the legal aspects of real estate, private equity and structured finance transactions across various asset classes. Mr. Nadborny began his career in the mergers and acquisitions and real estate groups at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. He holds a BA in history, with honors, from Yale University and earned a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Mr. Ford was previously a Vice President at PIMCO, where he was responsible for relationship management and new business development for U.S. institutional investors. Prior to PIMCO, Mr. Ford was an Associate and Portfolio Manager at PAAMCO (Pacific Alternative Asset Management Company), where he helped oversee various alternative investment strategies. Earlier in his career, Mr. Ford was an Asian equity trader at HSBC Investment Bank, an analyst at M. Safra & Co, and an equity trader at UBS Investment Bank. Mr. Ford earned a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Ms. Miller previously worked at AllianceBernstein in the Institutional Sales Department covering some of the firm’s largest corporate clients. Ms. Miller began her career as a Special Order Sales Representative for Corporate Express Promotional Marketing, a leading global supplier of branded merchandise to large institutions. Ms. Miller received her BS in Marketing and Management from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
